Marinus Link Pty Ltd (MLPL) is jointly owned by the Commonwealth of Australia, the State of Tasmania and the State of Victoria.

MLPL is responsible for progressing the Marinus Link interconnector project.

In February 2025, the shareholders issued a jointly developed Statement of Expectations to MLPL.

The Statement provides further guidance on the purpose, role and activities of MLPL. In conducting its business in accordance with the Statement, MLPL’s strategic direction will be aligned with shareholders’ objectives for the construction, ownership and operation of the Marinus Link and support each shareholder’s commitments to renewable energy and energy security.

Australian Institute of Energy (AIE) is a national, not-for-profit professional association. Through our branches, we regularly host high-quality in-person and virtual events to bring together energy professionals, enthusiasts, experts, policymakers, and industry leaders.

The AIE drives value for our members by raising awareness of energy issues, highlighting new and evolving energy technologies and promoting discussion of energy policies. We also offer a range of scholarships and awards to support our members and the energy industry. Please consider joining us as an individual or corporate member or a sponsor. 

We represent companies that generate and sell electricity to kiwi homes and businesses. Collectively, our members supply almost 90 percent of New Zealand’s electricity.  

Our membership is made up of Contact Energy, Genesis Energy, Mercury, Meridian Energy, and Nova Energy.

For Australian organisations, a business-as-usual electricity purchasing model is no longer a smart or low-risk business strategy.

Wholesale and retail electricity prices have increased significantly across Australia in recent years due to a range of market factors. Electricity costs have become highly volatile and the future is hard to predict. Meanwhile, renewable energy prices have fallen significantly, and are expected to continue to fall.

Driven by a desire to hedge against these factors, to demonstrate leadership and to improve social licence to operate, more and more Australian organisations are procuring renewable energy. Australia’s energy market is complex and navigating the options can be challenging. BRC-A exists to improve business understanding about renewable energy procurement options and how best to meet corporate sustainability and financial goals.

The Melbourne Energy Institute (MEI) delivers influential, interdisciplinary research on the transition to a sustainable, just, and affordable clean energy system. We work in partnership with the community, industry and government on the world’s most pressing energy challenges.  

MEI has over 300 specialists across Science, Engineering, Health, Law, Planning, Architecture, Economics, and Social Science. A part of the University of Melbourne, we are backed by an institution making the largest investment in research of any Australian university and supporting the country’s largest cohort of research students.  

We bring together University of Melbourne research capabilities across four areas:

MEI works with many leading organisations in Australia and overseas.
